CHAOS!!! And being Mindful through it all
If you didn't know let me be the first to tell you that CHAOS is the natural order of things and a lot of stress come from trying to control bottle and sell chaos in bullshit products that only cause more chaos.
An example, Say you want to learn how to Draw...
Well first you could start with a book, a youtube video and audiobook if you're adventurous, but which one , what method , what type of drawings do you want to do, are you a Wacom illustrator or do you enjoy pen to paper, and which book, are there any classes, is there a best way, this youtube video said I should start this way but that youtube video said i shouldn't and how much are these books....
You see ... CHAOS!!!
It can be simplified very easily and with one simple task, Be mindful and choose where to start.
YES KEVIN. Common sense isn't it? Could you have thought of it yourself, couldn't you? Then why is it that year after year there are people who never start what they want to do because they just can't make up their mind.
"But you don't know there life how can you say its that easy" you might say then I would say "well try meditation and then get back to me."
This is where the meditation comes in. Yes, meditation, that mystical word that some think is magic and others think they are gonna float in the air. Well no it's not magic and your not gonna float in the air... unless your the avatar.
THAT IS PHOTOSHOP KEVIN DONT BELIVE IT now let's move on.
Firstly you don't have to sit in the Lotus Position, you can sit anyway that is comfortable.
Secondly, you don't have to say or speak any Mantra or sing any song
(Meditation is you experiencing your body as it is at that time)
And while that sounded pretty weird. Meditation is a time to relax, its relaxation you will feel after doing it a couple times.
(Instead of binge watching your favorite show and sitting in a horrible position while eating chips and calling for a pizza... that's a heart attack, not relaxation.)
Thirdly you don't have to put your hands in any odd position with a certain finger touching the other, This can be done but what I want to show you is the meditation you can do for 2 minutes in your office chair without looking like a Yogi. (I have no qualms with Yogis, it's just an example.)
You dont need to learn any of these right now just carry on reading.
First things first . COMFORTABLE POSITION. if you've been sitting all day, then stand for a bit before you do this.
Second, put both your hands on your lap and KEEP A STRAIGHT BACK, This is where that ergonomic chair comes in handy. You can use it or do it like this monk.
Third, from what I learned you're going to want to count your breaths and you may think,
"Well why would I do that"
and I would say
"are you here to learn or not? just try it you've got nothing to lose, except stress"
So sitting with hands on your lap you are going to count your breath , every inhale and exhale is ONE (1), inhale and exhale TWO (2), inhale and exhale THREE (3) and so on.
Now the mindful part. When you reach TEN (10) starts over at ONE (1) and see how many times you forget to start over. You will find yourself reaching TWENTY THREE (23) and remembering to start over.
One thing to note, If you find yourself wondering on thought don't follow the thought just let it pass and go back to counting.
When you have done this for 2-5 minutes you should feel calmer, maybe a bit sleepy or maybe not, but the stress of whatever was on your mind should be gone. If not do it longer than 5 minutes.
So at the end of all your new found meditation knowledge what do you feel to do and where will you start?
